Mount Royal welcomes you to its exclusive ACADEMIC YEAR program and other academic options in Canada.
You will be able to study at an Anglophone school and live with an English/French or bilingual speaking family, depending on the province you choose.
ACADEMIC YEAR – ACADEMIC TRIMESTER– ACADEMIC SEMESTER –INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREAT
We work with the following provinces: Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Nova Scotia, Quebec, New Brunswick and Newfoundland.
If you are between 11 and 18 years old and you want to study English in Canada to enjoy the best experience of your life, just choose how long you want to stay and Mount Royal will assist you in making it come true.
You will be living together with a Canadian family. You will attend a High School with Canadian and other international students. You will be just another Canadian fellow!

English level: high/advanced intermediate
Course length:
Academic Year: September to June (10 school months).
Academic Trimester: September to November & February to April (3 months).
Academic Semester: September to January & February to June (5 months).
Enrollment Period:
15 September to 30 April (or while vacancies are still available).

Requirements
To be between 11 and 18 years of age.
High/advanced intermediate English level.
Good Academic record (+6).
To be motivated and to be open minded regarding different cultures and races.
To be respectful at the school, with teachers, coordinators, Canadian host parents, school fellows and a different geographic environment.
Visa.
MOUNT ROYAL SPECIAL
A chaperone from Mount Royal will accompany you in your flight to Canada and make sure that you are perfectly set up with your host family.*

VISA
Visa is not required for programs under 6 months (Trimester & Semester).
However, a student permit is COMPULSORY for Academic Year programs. This permit must be requested 60-90 days before departure.
PROGRAM
School classes from Monday to Friday: Math, Physics, Chemistry, Social Studies, Biology, English Literature, Physical Education, Science and Technical Drawing. Languages (to choose between English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese…).
Other optional subjects: Music, Domestic Economy, Cooking, Mechanics, Woodwork, IT, Theater (depending on the available options at each school).
Daily afterschool activities (optional): sports and/or cultural activities depending on the student’s preference and the available options at each school.

Supervision by Mount Royal staff
ACCOMMODATION
Host family (full board).
It is possible that a Canadian family hosts more than one international student at the same period (never same-language students).
Single room.
TRANSPORT
School bus (if needed depending on the distance between the host home and the school). Some schools provide this bus service free of charge.

INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE IB
Two academic years (Grades 11 & 12) in an International Baccalaureate (IB) program in Canada will provide you with a valuable international background for your higher education and professional future. For students between 16 – 18 years of age. Two consecutive academic years (equivalent to 1º & 2º Bachillerato) attending a Canadian school approved by the International baccalaureate organization.
The IB program in Canada prepares you to meet the demands required at university level.
It helps you to develop your learning skills (reading, writing and speaking) by means of active debates, independent work and individual presentations within small study groups.
You will be able to choose your classes within standard and advanced levels.
You can obtain college credits from universities and colleges.
Eligibility requires an good school report and an open mind for international and multicultural environments.
There is no need to pass the University Entrance Exam (Spanish Selectividad). At the conclusion of the Program you will be granted an IB Diploma. This certification is recognized by the most prestigious universities worldwide.
